For young drivers aged 6 to 16, the Soapbox Derby is an unforgettable experience. It’s about the thrill of the race, the joy of building something, and the pride of crossing the finish line. No car? No problem!
Did we mention there is free registration for all racers at our events? Plus, every registered racer receives a trophy and a shirt!
We make it easy for any kid to participate. Our program is designed to be accessible, safe, and, most of all, fun.
Sign Up to Race – Register your young racer for an upcoming event. We have 4 locations.
We Provide the Car – Through our Car Sponsor Program, we have a fleet of safe, well-maintained cars ready to go. Your child will be assigned a car to race on event day.
Learn & Race – Morning of the race, we hold a mandatory safety and driving clinic. Your child will learn the basics of driving a soapbox car from our experienced volunteers.
Feel the Thrill – Race day! It’s a day of friendly competition, community, and pure excitement. Every racer is a winner for taking part.

I Want to Sponsor a Car
Our Car Sponsor Program is an exciting way for businesses, organizations, and individuals to support local youth and be a visible part of every soapbox derby race we host. By sponsoring a derby car, you help us provide a fun, educational, and empowering experience to kids who may not have access to their own race cars.
Not every young racer has the tools or materials to build a soapbox car, but with your sponsorship, we can ensure that every child who wants to race has a car to drive.
Through this program:
We maintain a fleet of community-built and sponsor-supported cars.
These cars are used by racers at events throughout Windsor-Essex at our WESDA events.
Your sponsorship covers the upkeep, and transport of the vehicle along with storage.
Each sponsored car proudly displays the name and logo of its sponsor on both sides, giving your brand high visibility at family-friendly events and in local media coverage.
You sponsor a car – Choose to sponsor an available car from our fleet.
We brand it with your logo – Your name or business logo is added to the sides of the car in a visible, 30×10 inch area.
Kids race it – Your sponsored car will be driven by excited young racers throughout the racing season at our community events.
Recognition of your brand – Sponsors are featured on our website, social media, event signage and on event shirts. You’re also invited to attend races and see your car in action!
